E. Stimson followed the route that led travelers from Cody, Wyo., to Yellowstone National Park, documenting now-famous landmarks like Cedar Mountain, the Shoshone River, the Holy City, Chimney Rock, Sylvan Pass and Sylvan Lake. Amundson traveled the same road 105 years later, carefully duplicating Stimson&#8217;s original photographs. The book features these images, paired side by side and accompanied by a detailed explanation of the land and history depicted, making it\u00a0more than a &#8220;then and now&#8221; photography book\u2014it is a unique exploration of the interconnectedness between the Old West and the New West.<\/li>\n<li>A recent article, <a href=\"http:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/1748-9326\/5\/3\/034007\/pdf\/1748-9326_5_3_034007.pdf\">&#8220;Climate Control of Terrestrial Carbon Exchange Across Biomes and Continents,\u201d<\/a> published in the journal <i>Environmental Research Letters<\/i> co-authored by School of Forestry professor <b>Thomas Kolb <\/b>and former research associates Sabina Dore and Mario Montes-Helu, has been awarded the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wmo.int\/pages\/about\/awards\/norbert-gerbier-mumm_en.html\">Norbert Gerbier-MUMM International Award<\/a> from the World Meteorological Organization.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Martin D. Sommerness<\/strong>, professor of journalism, wrote the review of Steven R. Sedberry&#8217;s book <em>Law School Labyrinth: A Guide to Making the Most of Your Legal Education<\/em>, which was printed in the spring 2013 issue of <em>WAPLA<\/em>, the publication of the Western Association of Pre-Law Advisers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bruce M. Sullivan<\/strong>, professor of religious studies, is publishing an article analyzing a museum exhibition of sacred objects. \u201cReligions of the World at the Phoenix Art Museum\u201d will be published in <em>Material Religion: The Journal of\u00a0Objects, Art and Belief<\/em>, Vol. 9, No. 4 (2013).<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"display: inline !important;\"><strong>Dennis C. Tanner<\/strong>, professor of health sciences, and <strong>Stephanie Christensen<\/strong>, senior lecturer of health sciences, have contributed a section on swallowing disorders to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Nursing-Diagnosis-Handbook-Evidence-Based-Planning\/dp\/0323071503#reader_0323071503\"><em>Nursing Diagnosis Handbook: An Evidence-Based Guide to Planning Care<\/em><\/a> (10th Edition). In their section, Tanner and Christensen discuss the role swallowing impairments play in often-fatal aspiration pneumonia and provide guidelines and suggestions for nurses to avoid dysphagia complications.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>J. Gregory Caporaso<\/b>, assistant professor of bioinformatics\u2028in the Department of Computer Science, is coauthor of a paper, \u201cEvidence for a persistent microbial seed bank throughout the global ocean,\u201d published in <i>Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences<\/i>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pnas.org\/content\/early\/2013\/02\/27\/1217767110.full.pdf+html\">full text is online<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tim Smith<\/strong>, professor of music theory, designed a virtual and interactive performance of the &#8220;St. Matthew Passion.&#8221; He created the site\u00a0\u00a0for the Oregon Bach Festival to honor Helmuth Rilling for his 44 years as its artistic director.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"display: inline !important;\"><strong>Eric Heins<\/strong>, director of Track and Field and Cross Country, was named the Mountain Region Men&#8217;s Coach of the Year for the 2013 indoor season, the U.S. Track &amp; Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday. The award is the second of Heins&#8217; career for indoor track and field, having been honored for the first time in 2010.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Ryan Lamfers<\/b>, an adjunct faculty member for the School of Art, received the Emerging Artist Award at Saturday\u2019s Viola Awards, the Flagstaff Cultural Partners\u2019 annual reception celebrating excellence in the arts and sciences. Lamfers works primarily in sculptural art, but he also is a painter, jeweler, photographer and drawer. A video highlighting Lamfers is available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?feature=player_embedded&amp;v=HpEZ7a_7kSc\">online<\/a>.\n<p style=\"display: inline !important;\">Also during the awards reception, <b>Clifford E.
