{"id":13506,"date":"2009-04-01T11:31:44","date_gmt":"2009-04-01T18:31:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=13506"},"modified":"2015-08-17T14:50:25","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T21:50:25","slug":"dancing-from-argentina-to-arizona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/dancing-from-argentina-to-arizona\/","title":{"rendered":"Dancing from Argentina to Arizona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Get your pulse racing and your feet tapping to the Latin American sounds of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.triogarufa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Trio Garufa<\/a>\u00a0in \u201cDancing from Argentina to Arizona\u201d at 7:30 p.m. April 6 in Ardrey Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>Presented by the NAU Chamber and Symphony Orchestras, the program demonstrates new and classical forms of Argentine Tangos by Trio Garufa with dance performances by guest artists\u00a0Homer Ladas, Cristina Ladas and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.andreafuchilieri.com\/aboutme\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Andrea Fuchilieri<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trio Garufa includes Guillermo Garcia on guitar, Adrian Jost on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.totango.net\/bandoneon.html\">banyan\/bandoneon<\/a>\u00a0and Sascha Jacobsen on bass. Trio Garufa interprets Argentine Tango\u2014they mix the traditional tango of the Golden Era with the innovation of the modern Nuevo Tango movement.<\/p>\n<p>The perfomance comes to Flagstaff from San Francisco as part of the \u201cArizona Tango Exchange\u2013Flagstaff.\u201d \u00a0The weekend consists of dance workshops\u2014including a Flagstaff Art Walk event, a Milonga (an Argentine Tango dance party) with live music by Trio Garufa and a musician\u2019s workshop to instruct local musicians how to play tango-style music.<\/p>\n<p>The event is sponsored by NAU&#8217;s School of Music, USA Dance Flagstaff Chapter, city of Flagstaff BBB Revenues and Flagstaff Cultural Partners.
