{"id":12994,"date":"2009-03-11T16:20:45","date_gmt":"2009-03-11T23:20:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=12994"},"modified":"2015-08-17T14:39:29","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T21:39:29","slug":"garnier-fructis-holds-contest-and-gives-bathroom-makeovers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/garnier-fructis-holds-contest-and-gives-bathroom-makeovers\/","title":{"rendered":"Garnier Fructis holds contest and gives bathroom makeovers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While most people only sing in the shower for fun, one student made a splash by rocking out among the shampoo to win $500.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brad Wooton<\/strong>, a freshman exercise science major, was the winner of the Garnier Fructis \u201cSing in the Shower\u201d contest held outside the University Union last week.<\/p>\n<p>Wooton, who strutted his stuff during the karaoke contest singing Blink 182\u2019s song\u00a0<em>First Date<\/em>, said he likes \u201cbeing in the spotlight and entertaining people\u201d and believes he has a good chance at winning the next contest for $5,000 and a trip to L.A. to watch the\u00a0<em>American Idol<\/em>\u00a0finale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m feeling pretty confident,\u201d Wooton said. \u201cI talked to a lot of friends from back home and my friends here at NAU, and everyone is going to spread the word. Bathrooms were stocked with Garnier hair products, shower curtains and bath mats. Residents on floors that were not given bathroom makeovers received shower caddies filled with Garnier products.<\/p>\n<p>During the contest, contestants were judged based on &#8220;rocking their style&#8221; rather than singing ability.
