Luis Fernandez<\/strong>, assistant professor of criminology and criminal justice, is an international editor for\u00a0Contemporary Anarchist Studies<\/em>, a book recently published by Routledge Press.<\/p>\n

Richard A. “Tony” Parker<\/strong>, professor of speech communication in the School of Communication, presented a peer-reviewed scholarly paper, “Rhetorically Re-Visioning the Right of Free Expression: A Critical Analysis of Frazier vs. Boomsma,” at the annual convention of the Western States Communication Association recently held in Mesa.<\/p>\n

Steven Barger<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Heidi Wayment<\/strong>, professors of psychology, along with\u00a0Carrie Donoho<\/strong>, a former graduate student, published a study in the March edition of\u00a0Quality of Life Research\u00a0<\/em>examining racial and ethnic differences in psychological well-being among U.S. adults.<\/p>\n

Kimberly Melhus<\/strong>, assistant professor of visual communication in the School of Communication, presented \u201cDesign for Aging Eyes: A Look at Fast-Food Outdoor Menu Displays\u201d at the third International Conference on Design Principles and Practices in Berlin. The conference, held in February, brought together researchers, teachers and practitioners to discuss the nature and future of design.<\/p>\n

Karen Plager,\u00a0<\/strong>professor and graduate program coordinator for the School of Nursing and Health and Human Services, co-wrote\u00a0\u201cMadagascar Nursing Needs assessment: Education and Development of the Profession,\u201d\u00a0published in\u00a0International Nursing Review<\/em>, March edition.<\/p>\n

David Schlosberg<\/strong>, professor of politics and international affairs, presented \u201cFrom Environmental Justice to Ecological Justice,\u201d in a series organized by the Diversity and Social Justice Project at Hamilton College. He also presented \u201cIndigenous Struggles, Environmental Justice, and Community Capabilities,\u201d at the recent International Studies Association Conference. Schlosberg\u2019s book\u00a0Defining Environmental Justice,<\/em>\u00a0published in 2007, will soon be out in paperback from Oxford University Press.<\/p>\n

Lori Poloni-Staudinger<\/strong>, assistant professor of Politics and International Affairs, wrote the chapter \u201cWe All Need Friends: Elite Alliances and the Activity Choices of Environmental Groups in the United Kingdom, France and Germany,\u201d in\u00a0Interest Groups and Lobbying: Volume Two-Europe<\/em>\u00a0published by Edwin Mellen Press.<\/p>\n

Ana Caballero-Mengibar<\/strong>, part-time faculty and doctoral student in politics and international affairs, presented “Constructing Neo-Racialized Discourses and the Imagining of a Spanish National Identity,\u201d at the International Studies Association Conference in February.<\/p>\n

Sheila Nair<\/strong>, professor of politics and international affairs, participated in two roundtable discussions at the International Studies Association Conference in February: \u201cPostcolonial Feminist IR: A Feminist Theory and Gender Studies Critical Scholarship Panel\u201d and \u201cEnvisioning Trajectories of Feminist Theory and Gender Studies.\u201d Nair also co-chaired a panel, \u201cMargins, Peripheries and Excluded Bodies: International Relations and States of Exception,\u201d at the International Studies Association Conference in February.<\/p>\n

Roddy Brett<\/strong>, assistant professor of politics and international affairs, and\u00a0Frederic I. Solop<\/strong>, chair of the department, wrote\u00a0Decir Verdades Acalladasy Rebatir Invisibilidades Subalternas: Investigaci\u00f3n Acad\u00e9mica Encasos Legales<\/em>\u00a0(Uttering Silenced Truths and Contesting Subaltern Invisibilities: The Role of Academic Research within Legal Cases<\/em>), in the October edition of\u00a0N\u00f3madas<\/em>, published out of Universidad Central, Colombia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
