As expected, Northern Arizona University is recording its highest total enrollment ever this fall, including a new record for its Flagstaff campus.<\/p>\n
In official figures released today, NAU enrollment reached a total student population of 23,600, a 4.9 percent increase over last year’s record of 22,507.<\/p>\n
NAU President\u00a0John Haeger<\/strong>\u00a0credited NAU’s residential environment, smaller class sizes, quality instruction, community college partnerships, online learning, NAU’s Tuition Pledge and its Finish in Four-graduation plan for “attracting students to a quality education at a predictable cost.”<\/p>\n “More students are taking more classes, which will lead to producing more degrees to fuel a skilled Arizona workforce,” Haeger said.<\/p>\n The university welcomed more than 3,600 new freshman, making this the largest freshman class in NAU’s history, and it broke its Flagstaff campus enrollment record. Graduate students on the Flagstaff campus increased by 8.3 percent to 1,660.<\/p>\n Student population on the Flagstaff campus has reached 16,032 students. The previous record was 15,413 set in 1995.<\/p>\n “By providing a tuition pledge for predictability and a tangible incentive for students to finish in four years, we are putting more students on the path toward a successful educational experience,” said\u00a0David Bousquet<\/strong>, vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs.<\/p>\n Out-of-state enrollment increased from 4,711 to 5,129, an 8.9 percent jump. In-state enrollment grew from 17,796 to 18,471, a 3.8 percent increase. Students seeking undergraduate degrees increased from 16,787 to 18,301, a 9 percent jump.<\/p>\n NAU-Yuma’s student population has grown from 631 to 676 students, a 7.1 percent jump. Online student enrollment is up 2.7 percent.
