{"id":11882,"date":"2011-04-07T08:57:51","date_gmt":"2011-04-07T15:57:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=11882"},"modified":"2013-02-08T10:19:35","modified_gmt":"2013-02-08T17:19:35","slug":"pianist-jeffrey-swann-to-perform-as-part-of-horizons-concert-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/pianist-jeffrey-swann-to-perform-as-part-of-horizons-concert-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Pianist Jeffrey Swann to perform as part of Horizons Concert Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The School of Music will present \u201cMarcel Proust and Music,\u201d an interdisciplinary evening focused on the captivating French writer Marcel Proust, as part of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/horizons-concert-series-has-range\/\">Horizons Concert Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All events will take place on Monday, April 11, in Ashurst Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a series of \u201cIn Context\u201d presentations on Proust\u2019s life and times given by\u00a0<strong>Michael Vincent<\/strong>, dean of the College of Arts and Letters;\u00a0<strong>Patricia Frederick<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Erika Hess<\/strong>, from the Department of Modern Languages;\u00a0<strong>Alyce Jordan<\/strong>, from the Department of Comparative Cultural Studies; and pianist<strong>\u00a0Jeffrey Swann<\/strong>, the Adel Artist in Residence.<\/p>\n<p>A recital featuring Swann and guest violinist Ida Kavafian,who appears courtesy of Chamber Music Sedona, will follow at 7:30. Swann will perform solo piano music by Hahn, Debussy, Wagner\/Busoni and Faur\u00e9, and will be joined by Kavafian in Franck\u2019s violin sonata.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $20 for adults, $12.50 for seniors and NAU employees, $5 for children younger than 18. NAU students with ID are free.
