McMahon was listed among the top 10 highest ranking women in the colleges and universities category, and the magazine points to her work \u201cto empower women and encourage them to strive for leadership roles in higher education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also named in the issue is\u00a0<strong>Cheryl Heitz<\/strong>, director of finance\/administration for the NAU Foundation, as the highest ranking woman in the list of the state\u2019s top 10 foundations. Former Arizona Gov. Rose Mofford was selected as the magazine\u2019s Woman of the Year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Zachary Smith<\/strong>, Regents\u2019 Professor of politics and international affairs, and graduate student\u00a0<strong>Michelle Thomas<\/strong>\u00a0presented their paper, \u201cThe Ticking Clock: The Coming Environmental Crisis,\u201d at the Conference on the Policy Challenges of the Great Basin at Boise State University on May 16.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-spotlight-may-26-2011\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
