{"id":10590,"date":"2011-06-29T14:47:35","date_gmt":"2011-06-29T21:47:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=10590"},"modified":"2013-01-22T14:56:00","modified_gmt":"2013-01-22T21:56:00","slug":"new-regulation-impacts-all-employees-who-drive-for-nau-business-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/new-regulation-impacts-all-employees-who-drive-for-nau-business-2\/","title":{"rendered":"New regulation impacts all employees who drive for NAU business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A state regulation requires all employees who drive on university business to pass an online defensive driving course and submit their driver\u2019s license number for periodic records review.<\/p>\n<p>The law affects all faculty, staff and students who drive any university-owned motorized vehicles or who drive their own personal or rented vehicles for university business and are reimbursed.<\/p>\n<p>The new regulations change the current Fleet Safety Program by creating conditions for \u201cauthorized driver\u201d under state law. The full policy may be reviewed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www4.nau.edu\/cas\/TSC\/Vehicle_Authorization_docs\/Authorized_Driver_Policy.doc\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All authorized drivers will be required to have a review of their driver\u2019s record, which will be conducted at least annually. The review will cover the most recent 39-month period. They also will be required to complete a 90-minute online\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/NAU-Defensive-Driving\">defensive driving course<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.azgu.gov\/RM29N_1.0\/main3.swf\">.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To become an authorized driver, register by using the \u201cself service\u201d module in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.peoplesoft.nau.edu\/psp\/89pr\/EMPLOYEE\/HRMS\/c\/N__SELFSERVICE_PAYROLL_PERS.N__SSHR_DRIVER_LIC.GBL.\">PeopleSoft<\/a>. Individuals who may not have an Arizona driver\u2019s license should contact their immediate supervisor so they can request other state licensing records by accessing and filling out the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www4.nau.edu\/cas\/TSC\/Vehicle_Authorization_docs\/Non-Arizona_DL_Request_Form.doc\">non-Arizona driver\u2019s license request form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Both the online course and the license number registration should be completed before the next time individuals operate a vehicle. All employees should have completed both requirements by Nov. 1.
