{"id":10292,"date":"2010-07-21T16:29:50","date_gmt":"2010-07-21T23:29:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=10292"},"modified":"2013-01-17T15:26:36","modified_gmt":"2013-01-17T22:26:36","slug":"nau-yavapai-now-accepting-students-for-visionary-bachelors-degree-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/nau-yavapai-now-accepting-students-for-visionary-bachelors-degree-programs\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU-Yavapai now accepting students for visionary bachelor\u2019s degree programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students entering college this fall will be able to opt for one of the most affordable options for obtaining a bachelor\u2019s degree in Arizona by enrolling at NAU-Yavapai in Prescott Valley.<\/p>\n<p>NAU-Yavapai is offering a quality and accelerated path to earning an accredited bachelor\u2019s degree in as little as three years, with tuition at about 35 percent less than traditional university programs.<\/p>\n<p>Touted as a \u201cmodel project\u201d by state political leaders, NAU-Yavapai\u2019s accelerated course schedules are designed to increase employability and earning power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is visionary,\u201d Gov. Jan Brewer said of the innovative NAU-Yavapai partnership created last year between Yavapai College and NAU. \u201cIt sets an example for the entire state and the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Students at NAU-Yavapai can combine classroom and online learning in five- or 10-week formats and will have the flexibility to enroll at least eight times throughout the year, launching them quickly into their degree path.<\/p>\n<table width=\"324\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"10\" align=\"right\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"304\" height=\"314\">\n<table width=\"303\" border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"10\" align=\"right\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"279\" height=\"292\">\n<table width=\"281\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"279\">\n<h2><strong>Programs offered at NAU-Yavapai<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<hr noshade=\"noshade\" \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td height=\"248\">\n<h3><strong>Entrepreneurship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Gaining expertise in new venture creation, growth, strategy and fluency in new media marketing are just a few skills that prepare students for launching their own businesses<br \/>\nor growing established brands.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Service Industry Management<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Understanding customer behavior, satisfaction and loyalty, combined with the knowledge of implementing effective technology makes graduates highly competitive for leadership<br \/>\nroles in a service-based economy.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Community Development &amp; Sustainability<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Leading regional planning efforts, managing non-profit organizations, or greening up businesses, are career options for students who understand the dynamics of community and environment and the economics of sustainability.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>\u201cThis program is focused on what is best for students and allows them to progress as rapidly as possible to a bachelor\u2019s degree,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>John Haeger<\/strong>, NAU president. \u201cWhat you see here is the future of higher education in Arizona.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The hybrid degree programming at NAU-Yavapai offers course rigor with the flexibility of online course components and the opportunity for students to connect with on-site faculty in a classroom setting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur degree plans focus on problem solving, communications, project management and other critical workplace skills,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Susan Johnstad<\/strong>, assistant vice president and campus executive officer for NAU-Yavapai. \u201cOur programs are open to both traditional and non-traditional students, but we currently\u00a0are recruiting students who will begin at the freshman level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Faculty from the university and Yavapai College are jointly designing curricula for the 21st century with degrees in Community Development and Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Service Industry Management.<\/p>\n<p>Students enrolling at NAU-Yavapai have access to an e-mail account, online resources and Cline Library privileges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a very cost effective option for students and the State of Arizona, said Yavapai College President Jim Horton.<\/p>\n<p>The broader partnership between Yavapai College and NAU serves students with varied goals and interests.
