Project 30:
This science writing internship is for anyone who loves learning about science and crafting stories to explain it! As an NAU/NASA Space Grant Intern working for the AZ Daily Sun, you’ll interact with scientists, interns and educators to write science-related articles working for the Editor of the Arizona Daily Sun here in Flagstaff, AZ. Intern must be interested in science writing for a lay audience, and have strong proven writing experience.
Intern will become an active member of the AZ Daily sun news staff in Flagstaff, Arizona, reporting and writing for the AZ Daily Sun. Some local travel is possible around the community. Intern is expected to work 6-10 hours a week. Intern will gain experience with all facets of science communication. Main priorities include interviewing and writing pieces about science related projects and discoveries. Other responsibilities might include creating content for social media, helping produce and print the paper and updating the website.
This project most closely aligns with NASA’s Science Mission Directorate’s STEM Education & Communication Research Priority Area. Science writers translate the language of science into something relatable and understandable to the general public. Good science writing can empower people and communities to make the right decisions and stay informed.
