Project 14:
This project relates to growing fresh food in space. A comparison will be made between different growing conditions for watercress and spinach. The growth media will have different variations. Mass of the watercress and spinach at the end of the project will inform us about the best growth conditions, and which one would be most appropriate for space applications.
The student will be in charge of choosing the growth media, the exposure hours and light intensity, providing nutrients and water, and collecting data. During this experiment, the student will keep a laboratory notebook to consistently record their findings. This is estimated to take about 7 hours per week. In addition, the student will write a manuscript detailing their experiment.
