{"id":122,"date":"2018-08-23T12:41:24","date_gmt":"2018-08-23T12:41:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vendor.hub.wp.nau.edu\/nacp\/other-cancer-research-programs-in-arizona-2\/"},"modified":"2023-08-30T22:01:37","modified_gmt":"2023-08-30T22:01:37","slug":"other-cancer-research-programs-in-arizona-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/nacp\/other-cancer-research-programs-in-arizona-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Other Cancer Research Programs in Arizona"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Other Cancer Research Programs in Arizona<\/h1>\n<h2>The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen)<\/h2>\n<p>TGen, or the Translational Genomics Research Institute (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tgen.org\/\">www.tgen.org<\/a>), is a non-profit research entity with headquarters in Phoenix.\u00a0 (Its Pathogen Genomics division, TGen North, is located in Flagstaff and collaborates closely with NAU\u2019s Center for Microbial Genetics and Genomics.)\u00a0 Several of TGen\u2019s research divisions (Cancer and Cell Biology, Clinical Translational Research, Genetic Basis of Human Disease, and Integrated Cancer Genomics) host productive researchers and excellent facilities for cancer-related research.\u00a0 Because TGen\u2019s primary facility is located adjacent to the Phoenix Bioscience Core, where several of NAU\u2019s health professions degree programs operate, collaboration with TGen researchers is both desirable and relatively easy.<\/p>\n<h2>Cancer Research at Arizona State University<\/h2>\n<p>Arizona State University hosts several research groups and entities engaged in cancer research.\u00a0 A major point of contact for these is the Center for the Convergence of Physical Science and Cancer Biology (<a href=\"http:\/\/cancer-insights.asu.edu\/\">http:\/\/cancer-insights.asu.edu\/<\/a>), one of 12 physical sciences and oncology centers in a nationwide PS-OC network established by the NCI.<\/p>\n<h2>Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale<\/h2>\n<p>The world-renowned Mayo Clinic has a major research campus and clinical facilities in Scottsdale, Arizona.\u00a0 Two of their departments with cancer-related expertise and researchers are the Hematology\/Oncology Division (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/departments-centers\/hematology\/hematology-oncology-arizona\/overview\">http:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/departments-centers\/hematology\/hematology-oncology-arizona\/overview<\/a>) and the Radiation Oncology Program (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/departments-centers\/radiation-oncology\/arizona\/overview\">http:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/departments-centers\/radiation-oncology\/arizona\/overview<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h2>Arizona Biomedical Research Commission (ABRC)<\/h2>\n<p>The Commission is a state-funded entity under the Arizona Department of Health Services (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.azdhs.gov\/biomedical\/\">http:\/\/www.azdhs.gov\/biomedical\/<\/a>).
