Dr. Nelson is an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering, teaching courses in thermal sciences and design. His research areas include the application of atomic force microscopy, characterization of biomaterials, renewable energy, energy conservation, and biomimetic designs. He actively works to further research collaborations between engineering and the sciences. Currently, he is putting forth a proposal for a novel low-cost solar water heater through the institute. His hobbies include trying to be a blessing to the world around him, assorted outdoor activities, musical instruments, and shenanigans.
