Thank you for your interest in becoming a tutor at the Northern Arizona University’s Lumberjack Mathematics Center. This information outlines the qualifications for hire and the duties performed.
Requirements and responsibilities of NAU Math Jacks tutors
Requirements for Math Jacks tutors Accordion Closed
As an LMC tutor, students must:
- be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at NAU
- be work-study or student-wage eligible
- maintain an overall 3.0 GPA
- have successfully completed:
- MAT 125 with a “B” or higher
- or, MAT 136
- or, MAT 121
- successfully complete LMC tutor training during your first semester of employment
- be willing to work at least 7-10 hours per week
Responsibilities for Math Jacks tutors Accordion Closed
As an LMC tutor, student responsibilities will include:
- providing individual and/or group assistance to students in MAT 100, MAT 108, MAT 114, or MAT 125 at the LMC
- assisting students with the development of study skills necessary for course
- attending training meetings as scheduled and/or required
- maintaining accurate records of work hours and submitting timely payroll documentation to LMC Lab Manager
- accepting feedback provided via observation/evaluation process
- supporting the mission of the LMC
