Postdoctoral Scholars<\/h1>\n

Through the generous support of Jeanette Garretty Reinhard, Eli Reinhard, and the Molly Blank Fund, the Martin-Springer Institute has been able to offer year-long positions for Postdoctoral Scholars. Each scholar brings a strong research portfolio and an international perspective to the work of the institute and to students at NAU.<\/p>\n

2023-2024:<\/span> <\/span>Pedro Gonzalez Corona<\/span>. He<\/span> received his PhD in 2019 and <\/span>has been <\/span>a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy<\/span>.<\/span> Pedro worked <\/span>as Assistant Director <\/span>at the Ackerman Center for Holocaust Studies where he <\/span>taught courses on the Holocaust, human rights, Latin America, and Mexican history.<\/span> He was a<\/span> fellow at the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy and the Institute for the Study of Human Rights at Columbia University. <\/span>His current <\/span>research focuses on Mexican antisemitism<\/span> as well as the phenomenon of forced disappearances and eliminationist violence<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"Asya<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n

2021-2022: Asya Darbinyan. She completed her dissertation in history at the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Clark University on the Russian Empire’s response to the refugee crisis during the Armenian genocide. She had previously worked as deputy director at the Armenian Genocide Museum in Yerevan, and also conducted comparative genocide research in Paris, France.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

2021 (Jan-Dec): John Barruzza. His dissertation on \u201cThe Good Italian, the Bad German, and the Survivor: Narratives and Counter-Narratives of the Shoah in Italy\u201d explores the history and memory of the Holocaust in Italy by examining the experiences and testimonies of survivors. As a historian of modern Europe, he earned his PhD from Syracuse University in 2020.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n \n2019-2020: Thomas Just. His work focuses on policy measures regarding antisemitism in contemporary Poland and Germany. He received his PhD in international relations from Florida International University in 2017. He served as congressional aide in Washington D.C. and as intern within Poland\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
