Fires of Change
Flagstaff features art exhibition depicting wildfire damage in the Southwest
Fires of Change is an art exhibition at the Coconino Center for the Arts which ran September 5 – October 31, 2015. Created in partnership with the Southwest Fire Science Consortium and the Flagstaff Arts Council, the exhibition will communicate through art, the increase in severity, size and number of wildfires in the Southwest and their impact on the landscape. Fires of Change is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Joint Fire Science Program.

The artists involved with the exhibition
The eleven participating artists in Fires of Change attended a Fire Science Bootcamp, spending a week in the forests of Northern Arizona in fall 2014. A team of top-notch fire scientists and managers provided the eleven invited artists education and training on the impact of wildfire in Northern Arizona in preparation for the exhibition. The artists have spent the past year preparing their work for exhibit. We couldn’t be more impressed.
