NAU to retire Zoom as a university collaboration platform<\/span><\/h2>\n
Beginning in June, NAU will begin the process of retiring Zoom for university use.<\/h5>\n

\u24d8 This news release was updated on June 15th, 2026, in order to reflect recent changes to the retirement process of Zoom.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

\n

Beginning on June 30, 2026,<\/strong> NAU will begin the process to retire Zoom for university use. Paid Zoom licensing will expire on that date, and NAU users will retain access to Zoom for one year through a Zoom Basic account while NAU completes the migration to Microsoft Teams. Basic accounts are limited to 40-minute meetings, 100 participants, and no cloud recording. Learn more about Zoom’s Basic plan.<\/a><\/p>\n

Microsoft Teams will continue to serve as the primary university collaboration platform<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After June 30, Zoom will no longer be integrated into Canvas for instruction and will be replaced with Microsoft Teams. Other university tools or integrations that utilize Zoom will be replaced with Microsoft Teams in the coming months.<\/p>\n

\n

Past Zoom recordings are stored in MediaSpace<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

NAU users can log into MediaSpace<\/a> to view and download previous Zoom recordings. Zoom recordings will not be deleted from MediaSpace as part of this transition.<\/p>\n

\n

Why NAU is making this change<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This change is in support of financial sustainability initiatives that better utilize university funds and cut down on platforms or tools that provide similar or identical functions in our portfolio.<\/p>\n

With NAU currently leveraging Microsoft 365 as the university’s platform for productivity and collaboration tools, Microsoft Teams will be the university’s primary tool for video and chat collaboration, replacing Zoom.<\/p>\n
