From your desktop, click on the Wi-Fi<\/strong> icon (usually located in the bottom-right-hand corner). $\"picture$ <\/li>\n
A list of networks appears above the icon. Select the wireless network labeled NAU<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
To have your computer automatically connect to the NAU network when it is available check the Connect automatically <\/strong>check box.<\/li>\n
Select Connect<\/strong>. The Network & Internet menu opens.<\/li>\n
In the User name<\/strong> field insert your NAU UserID<\/strong> and in the Password<\/strong> field insert your NAU Password<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
Select OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
When asked to continue connecting, select Connect<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

<\/a>Connecting a Mac<\/strong><\/p>\n
On Windows and Mac, connecting to WPA2 networks at NAU only requires entering your UserID in the ‘Identity’ field, and NAU password in the ‘password’ field once you’ve selected the ‘NAU’ wifi network.<\/p>\n

Click the Wi-Fi icon<\/strong> near the right-hand side of the menu bar at the top of the screen.<\/li>\n
In the menu that appears, select Turn Wi-Fi On<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
Select NAU<\/strong>. If selecting NAU-Guest, you may be asked to accept the Terms and Conditions.<\/li>\n
Enter your NAU UserID<\/strong> in the Username<\/strong> field and your NAU Password<\/strong> in the Password<\/strong> field.<\/li>\n
Select Join<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

How and When to Use the NAU Guest Wi-Fi Accordion Closed<\/span><\/h4>\n <\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/a>\n

Who should use NAU Guest?<\/strong><\/p>\n
NAU Guest <\/strong>wireless network provides basic access to internet resources for all guests to NAU who do not have a NAU user ID and password and student devices that are incapable of authenticating with their NAU user ID and password on the NAU network. This connection only allows general internet access for Web http, https, and VPN. This is an open, non-encrypted network.<\/p>\n
Connecting to NAU Guest:<\/strong><\/p>\n
To connect to the network, navigate to your device’s wireless settings and connect to the NAU Guest<\/strong> network. You should be redirected to a the NAU Wireless Guest log in page to register for a guest account. An SMS message with a pin code will then be sent to your phone number. Please use that pin code and your registered email address to log in to the guest network. This pin code will be active for seven days and will allow you to connect up to five devices.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The NAU uses Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment allows access to a virtualized lab environment, including access to software normally only available on-campus.<\/p>\n
These instructions work for PC, Mac and Linux machines.<\/p>\n
To connect to vDesk, first visit https:\/\/apps.nau.edu<\/a> in your web browser.<\/p>\n
For help connecting to Azure Virtual Desktop: NAU’s Azure Virtual Desktop (apps.nau.edu)<\/a><\/p>\n
Accessing vDesk<\/h2>\n
Once you select the clients above, you will then be prompted to login. Please use your usual NAU credentials to do so.<\/p>\n

Once signed in you will be prompted with the DUO Security Authentication selection. Sign in with DUO and select the Vdesk – Full Desktop. If you are not currently enrolled in DUO Two-Step Authentication please follow these instructions before proceeding. Duo Two-Factor Authentication<\/a><\/p>\n

You will then be prompted to “Allow Local Resources”. Be sure Clipboard, Microphone and Printer are selected and press “Allow”.<\/p>\n
You may be prompted to login again. Use your NAU credentials to login and the Virtual Desktop will load.<\/p>\n

Note: If you experience issues with the VDesk such as no icons loading on the Desktop, you can’t access applications or you cannot save files properly, please follow these instructions.<\/p>\n
1. Close the broken Vdesk.<\/p>\n
2. Go back to apps.nau.edu<\/a> and choose “Select Default File Location”.<\/p>\n

Phishing <\/a>is an attempt to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an email or other electronic communication.<\/p>\n
If you notice any suspicious activity,report the phish immediately<\/strong><\/a>; if a phish is identified quickly, other users who may have been targeted may be defended as well.<\/p>\n

Classlists is a tool that creates mailing lists based on courses, enabling a faculty member or instructor of a course to send emails to their students.<\/p>\n
Features & Benefits<\/p>\n
\n
Each semester, a Classlist is built for every section you are an instructor of record for.<\/li>\n
Mailing lists are typically built well before the start of the term and remain alive 2 weeks past the section’s end date.<\/li>\n
Lists are updated with new enrollment information each night.<\/li>\n
You can send an attachment to your class list (syllabus, assignments, answer keys, etc), but like any attachment, there is a 5MB limit.<\/li>\n
Instructors can set up a welcome message serving as an introduction to the course.<\/li>\n
An archive is created each time a course’s classlist is used, so when a student adds the course, the archive is sent to the student to catch the new student up with course email communication to date.<\/li>\n
Faculty as well as TAs and other instructors of record in the course may send messages using this tool. All currently enrolled students are subscribers of the list and will receive any emails posted. Faculty and TAs will also receive posts to the list.<\/li>\n
Email addresses used for classlists correspond to the role of the list subscriber in the course. Instructors\/TAs will have an email address that conforms with “<first>.<last>@nau.edu.” Students will be subscribed with an email address of “<uid>@nau.edu.”<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Open up a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari.<\/li>\n
Go to http:\/\/classlists.nau.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n
You may be asked to log in using your NAU user name and password.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
Usage<\/p>\n
To send a simple message, find the class you want to contact in the list, and click send mail<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If you are on your NAU work computer, Outlook launches and opens a new e-mail.<\/li>\n
The “send mail” link is a mailto: URL which tries to open the mail program. If you are not at your work computer, you can copy the long e-mail address to the left or right-click on “send mail” and copy that URL and paste it into your mail program or into Outlook Web App.<\/li>\n
When a student joins the course, any existing messages sent to the list are delivered to them in a digest format.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
To send a welcome message, click create welcome message<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
\n
A page will load where you can enter text. It is a good idea to write your message in a text editor or a word processor, then copy and paste the text into the web page.<\/li>\n
You may not add attachments to welcome messages.<\/li>\n
Welcome messages are sent to students after they join the course.<\/li>\n
You may send more than one welcome message.<\/li>\n
You may edit and re-send an existing welcome message, any number of times.<\/li>\n
When a student in the class clicks reply in their mail client, the message is addressed individually to the instructor who sent the message.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Class Rosters are available to instructors of record for any given section. Rosters can be accessed via web page, email message or RTF file. Optional information added to a roster can include the student’s email address, student’s academic level, student’s major and\/or enrollment status.<\/p>\n
The instructor of record can use the class roster web tool at http:\/\/www.nau.edu\/class_rosters<\/a> to view and download rosters of their courses with various information.<\/p>\n
Resolution<\/strong><\/p>\n
\n
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, or Chrome.<\/li>\n
Go to the web site address: http:\/\/www.nau.edu\/class_rosters<\/a>.You may be asked to log in with your normal NAU user name and password.<\/li>\n
Enter the class number for your class. These numbers are usually four to six digits long, they can be found in LOUIE.<\/li>\n
All roster requests include the NAU ID number and name of students. Check the boxes for any additional information, such as e-mail address or major.<\/li>\n
Select the output format.\n

HTML page will display in your web browser.<\/li>\n
Email, both fixed and tab-delimited formats will be e-mailed to you at the address displayed.<\/li>\n
RTF file will download to your computer and open in a word processing application such as Word, Pages, TextEdit or WordPad.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
Click on the Request Roster<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
This tools provides a roster as of early morning of the date the tool is used. The tool will not include students who may have added or dropped earlier in the same day. However, they will appear the following morning.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
