\n \n\n\nNAU is currently in “islands mode” with Teams and Skype for Business. This setup means that Teams and Skype for Business are running simultaneously with similar and overlapping functionality. We can take advantage of the new features available in Teams while also using the features of Skype for Business that have been part of the communication toolset at NAU for years.<\/p>\n
The “islands mode” setup means that calling is still housed in Skype for Business. Phone calls to your extension are received through Skype for Business and external calling only happens through Skype for Business. The Calls feature in Teams today provides the ability to call members of the NAU network, so internal calls to other Teams users.<\/p>\n
This setup also means that for instant messaging, Teams only talks to Teams and Skype for Business only talks to Skype for Business.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n \n

\n \n\n\nParticipants in the pilot will be moved from “islands mode” to “Teams Only” mode. At that time, all calling functionality will be moved into Teams. Participants will be able to make and receive external calls through Teams.<\/p>\n
Instant messaging will also be done solely through Teams, so Skype for Business will no longer be accessed, but participants will be able to communicate with Skype for Business users. All messages will be sent and received through Teams, regardless of what tool the other person uses.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n \n

\n \n\n\nHuman Resources is the main department that will be participating in the pilot. A small group from ITS will also be moved to Teams Only mode. The groups involved provide ITS with a range of scenarios, usage, and needs. Information gathered from the pilot will help make the full migration smoother.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n
