Best Practices for Video Conferencing
NAU ITS presents tips and tricks on proper video conferencing etiquette. Take this information into consideration for your next class or meeting.
Hosting Accordion Closed
- For security purposes, we encourage you to not share your meeting link anywhere public
- Please note: There is an option you can enable that only allows authenticated NAU users to join meetings
- If you use Blackboard Collaborate, only the people enrolled in your Blackboard course should be able to get into your session, unless you share a guest link
- NAU ITS requires all Zoom meetings to have a passcode enabled. For more information, view this Zoom Passcode article
Participating Accordion Closed
- Test it all. Prior to your class or meeting, check your camera, computer, microphone and Internet connection. For those who may not have reliable Internet connection at home, check out Eduroam
- Be aware of your surroundings. Before you turn your camera on, test it to see what can be seen behind you
- Be mindful of your appearance. Dress how you would for an in-person class or meeting
- Mute your mic when you’re not talking. Background noise can be distracting, so muting allows your peers to easily hear who’s speaking
