The International Excellence Award (IEA) is NAU’s premier merit-based tuition-reduction award for high-achieving international students. Designed for first-time, degree-seeking F-1 undergraduate and graduate students admitted directly into a university program on the Flagstaff Mountain campus, this scholarship provides up to $11,000 per year toward NAU tuition and fees<\/strong>. No separate application is required, and the award is renewable for the duration of your degree if you maintain full-time enrollment and a 3.0 GPA or higher. Award amounts vary.<\/p>\n

Eligibility requirements<\/h5>\n

First-time, full-time F-1 international students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at NAU’s Flagstaff campus.<\/li>\n
Admitted and enrolled in classes for the upcoming semester.<\/li>\n
Minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of admission.<\/li>\n
Submission of required financial documentation for I-20 issuance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Students not eligible<\/u> to apply include those:<\/strong><\/h6>\n
\n
Sponsored by a government or other organization.<\/li>\n
Receiving assistantships, full athletic scholarships, or other tuition waivers.<\/li>\n
Enrolled in a dual-degree, including community college bridge programs and the Program in Intensive English (PIE).<\/li>\n
Participating in the Programa de Beneficios de Pago (PROBEP) tuition benefit program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

No separate application is required—students who meet the criteria are automatically considered upon submitting a complete international admission application.<\/li>\n
Awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Fund disbursement<\/h5>\n

Disbursed as an out-of-state tuition waiver only.<\/li>\n
Covers up to the award amount, not exceeding out-of-state tuition charges for the semester.<\/li>\n
Cannot be applied to mandatory or special class fees, housing, meal plans, or other non-tuition expenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
