{"id":1461,"date":"2020-11-20T22:47:20","date_gmt":"2020-11-20T22:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nau.edu\/igp\/?p=1461"},"modified":"2021-03-04T20:06:40","modified_gmt":"2021-03-04T20:06:40","slug":"igp-alumna-nicole-bratsch-seeks-medical-service-career","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/interdisciplinary-global-programs\/igp-alumna-nicole-bratsch-seeks-medical-service-career\/","title":{"rendered":"IGP alumna Nicole Bratsch seeks medical service career"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IGP alumna <a href=\"https:\/\/azdailysun.com\/news\/local\/nau-grad-nicole-bratsch-seeks-medical-career-with-indian-health-services\/article_3db7da6b-979c-5808-b535-1bc95147257e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nicole Bratsch was featured by the Arizona Daily Sun<\/a> for her IGP fieldwork on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation and shares her future career goals.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row lee-text-row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-8 fixed-col-left main-content\">\n<div class=\"lee-article-text first-p\">\n<p class=\"\">When 22-year-old Nicole Bratsch\u2019s study abroad program in Chile was cut short in March as COVID-19 cases spiked internationally, the Northern Arizona University senior returned home \u2014 and went straight to work on the front lines of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lee-article-text\">\n<p class=\"\">From April through August, Bratsch was the COVID-19 data manager at Whiteriver Indian Hospital, located on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation about half an hour\u2019s drive south of her family home in Pinetop.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lee-article-text\">\n<p class=\"\">In this role, she helped with COVID-19 contact tracing efforts, gathering and organizing patient data, giving twice daily reports on the situation to the contact tracing team, while also occasionally doing field work alongside hospital staff and trained community members.
