Abstract
Of the 600 volcanoes in the San Francisco Volcanic Field, the San Francisco Peaks are the largest, at an elevation of 12,630 feet and form the highest point in Arizona. The San Francisco Peaks is a stratovolcano with a long history of eruptions and glaciation. Although we will focus on more recent history in this unit, the full story of the Peaks starts almost three million years ago.
