While API Heritage Month is traditionally observed in May, NAU celebrates in April to accommodate the academic calendar and the focus on final exams and commencement activities. All events are open to the public unless otherwise noted. Come celebrate with us!

Asian and Pacific Islander Week at the Hot Spot
Join Campus Dining for a week-long celebration with delicious specialty foods! Enjoy a menu featuring food from Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Hawaii, and Thailand.

Louie’s Cupboard Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Cooking Demo
Join Louie’s Cupboard, The Office of Inclusion, and Campus Dining while supplies last for a special distribution of grub boxes and a cooking demo to celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
No sign-up is needed! This event is free and open to the NAU community.

KLCC K-Pop Night
KLCC takes on their own K-pop music show, featuring some new debuts and comebacks! Join us for some amazing performances, games, random dance, and a costume contest! Bring your lightsticks to cheer on our dancers and dress up as your favorite idol or K-pop concept! We’re so excited to see everyone there! 🩷🩵 This event is free of cost, doors open at 6pm!

NAU HAPA Club’s 18th Annual Lū’au
NAU HAPA Club presents Ka Pili O Nā Moku. This event honors Maui, and all donations received will be contributed to Maui.
Students from the Hapa Club will showcase traditional dances and cultural practices from different Polynesian cultures with the NAU and Flagstaff community. Dinner will also be provided to those with tickets.
DINNER TICKETS ARE NOW SOLD OUT. Guests are still welcome to attend the show at 6:30 pm with no ticket.

API Heritage Month Women’s Tennis Match
NAU Athletics in partnership with IMQ will host an Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month Women’s Tennis Match on Tuesday, April 9. Prior to the start of the 10:30 am match, donuts will be provided, and in between the singles and doubles matches, pizza will be offered.

Folding Friday: An Origami Afternoon
Join us for an afternoon of Origami Folding Friday at the IMQ Center! Origami is the art of folding paper to create different shapes and figures. This fun and relaxing activity is part of the Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrations. All materials will be provided along with refreshments.

FASA’s 4th Annual Culture Night: Gabi Ng Pagdiriwang
FASA invites the NAU campus community to the 4th Annual Culture Night on Saturday, April 13!
What is Culture Night? It is an event that is held by NAU FASA to celebrate and share the Filipino culture! This year’s theme is Gabi ng Pagdiriwang, which translates to “The Night of Celebration”.
It will be held at The Prochnow Auditorium which is located on North Campus, near the Drury Inn Suites. The event will be a first come, first serve process so make sure you get there on time. Food will not be provided. Doors open up at 6pm and the show will start at 7pm.

Studio Ghibli Night
The Office of Inclusion (IMQ) presents Studio Ghibli Night on Sunday, April 21, 2024 as part of Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrations. Get comfy while we watch two Studio Ghibli films: Princess Mononoke at 4 pm and Spirited Away at 6:30 pm. Food will be served between movies.

Graduation Cap Decorating & Lei Making Night
Stop by IMQ for a graduation cap decorating and lei making party! Bring your graduation cap to decorate and make a lei to celebrate this incredible milestone. Supplies will be provided for graduating Lumberjacks, and refreshments and cake will be provided. If you can’t make the party, graduation cap decorating and lei making supplies will be available in the IMQ Center up until Commencement. This event is brought to you by IMQ, OISS, HAPA, and Abaya Yala!
