All regular benefit eligible employees<\/strong> are required<\/u> by state mandate to enroll in a primary retirement plan. Exception: <\/em><\/p>\n

Postdoctoral scholars and some international employees are not eligible to participate in a primary retirement plan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>Part Time Faculty and Temporary Employees <\/strong>can become eligible for retirement if they work at least 20 hours a week for at least 20 weeks in a fiscal year. If you become eligible you will be notified by Human Resources.<\/p>\n

The retirement plan you are offered depends on the type of employee you are.\u00a0

Classified Staff<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Required to enroll in the Arizona State Retirement System<\/a> (ASRS).<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n

Faculty & Appointed Staff<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Choice between ASRS<\/a> or the Optional Retirement Plan<\/a> (ORP) with TIAA or Fidelity.<\/p>\n

30 days to elect, if you do not enroll you will be defaulted into ASRS.<\/p>\n

Your enrollmentdefault is irrevocable.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n

Public Safety Employees<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Can choose a defined benefit or define contribution option with PSPRS.<\/p>\n

90 days to elect, if you do not enroll you will be defaulted into the defined benefit option.<\/p>\n
