Under certain conditions, including weather-related conditions, it may become necessary to cancel classes or close the campus(es) of NAU. \u00a0The NAU President or his\/her designee may declare a cancellation of classes and\/or partial or full university closure.<\/p>\n
The campus community can visit the NAU Safe webpage<\/strong><\/a>, which will be updated in the event there is a change in the schedule. The decision will be made before 6 a.m., with the determination to cancel evening classes made by 4 p.m. The content on the page will not change if the university is operating on a normal schedule.<\/p>\n The university will send out an NAU Safe<\/a> text message only in the event that classes or university operations are on a delayed start or canceled. In addition, students, faculty and staff also are notified of changes to operations through email, NAU Safe web page<\/a>, Facebook<\/a>, Twitter<\/a>, the NAU home page<\/a>, and local media. To sign up for NAU Safe visit in.nau.edu\/its\/nausafe\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n To keep up with road and weather conditions throughout Flagstaff and the surrounding areas, monitor regional weather forecasts<\/a>, road conditions<\/a> and follow @ArizonaDOT on Twitter<\/a>. For those driving, allow extra travel time to and from your destination, ensure your vehicle is in good condition to travel in the snow and keep a windshield scraper, hats and gloves and a blanket in your car in case you get stuck.<\/p>\n Riding the local buses also is an option. Ride the Louie Line, Rapid Ride<\/a> or Mountain Link<\/a> (Route 10) shuttles. To track NAU and Mountain Link shuttles live, download\u00a0NAUgo<\/em><\/a>. Students can purchase a discounted Mountain Line bus pass<\/a>, and employees are encouraged to commute using their ecoPASS<\/a> on Mountain Line.<\/p>\n Review the Emergency Closures policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n For specific timekeeping\/reporting questions related to late start or closure visit review the snow closure time reporting instructions<\/a> or contact your\u00a0payroll representative<\/a>.<\/p>\n If you do not attend work or you leave early when a closure has not been declared, due to severe weather conditions, power outage or another emergency, you must take:<\/p>\n You can find more information on the paid time off webpage.<\/a><\/p>\n Depending on the nature of the work some employees may also have flexible work schedule or options<\/a> with supervisor approval.<\/p>\n \n\n
