Also, you may enroll in either\/both Supplemental Retirement plans.<\/span>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<h3><hr role=\"separator\" class=\"hr--transparent hr--transparent-15px not-in-view\"><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Voluntary Benefits<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You are eligible to enroll in voluntary benefits that include medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life insurance and short-term disability.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/Human-Resources\/Benefits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Learn about your voluntary benefit options<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/human-resources\/benefits-voluntary-benefit-dates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">When do YOUR benefits start?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class='shortcode-column-container'><!-- shortcode-column -->\n<div class=\"shortcode-column shortcode-column--count-2\">\n    \n<ol>\n<li>Sign on to <a href=\"https:\/\/hr.peoplesoft.nau.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>LOUIE &#8211; HR<\/strong><\/a> with your NAU credentials.<\/li>\n<li>Select \u2018<strong>Benefits\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>on the home page<b>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Select \u2019<strong>Benefits Enrollment\u2019.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018<strong>Select\u2019<\/strong> for the event displayed.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018<strong>Edit\u2019<\/strong> on each benefit to enroll\/change your election.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018<strong>Save and Continue\u2019<\/strong> when your enrollment is completed.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018<strong>Submit\u2019 <\/strong>to authorize your enrollments<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<\/div>\n<!-- shortcode-column -->\n<div class=\"shortcode-column shortcode-column--count-2\">\n    <div class=\"eplus-bg-color-row bg-color-dark-blue\"><div class=\"eplus-bg-color-row-content\">\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\">You have 31 days from your hire date to enroll in your voluntary benefits.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\">If you do not enroll, all benefits except basic life insurance, which is provided at no cost, will be waived.<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Health Care ID Cards<\/h4>\n<p>Your enrollment information us sent to each vendor on your benefits effective date.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It will take several days before your enrollment will show on the provider\u2019s eligibility portal.<\/li>\n<li>Once on the portal, you are able to register for an account with the vendor and print a temporary ID Card.<\/li>\n<li>The vendor will then mail your ID card to your home address within 2 weeks.<\/li>\n<li>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/human-resources\/benefit-contact-information\/\">\u2018Your Benefit Contacts\u2019<\/a> webpage for the provider\u2019s website address and customer service phone number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"eplus-bg-color-row bg-color-dark-blue\"><div class=\"eplus-bg-color-row-content\">\n<p><strong>Rules to remember<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coverage is effective the first day of the pay period after a completed enrollment.\u00a0\u00a0View the current <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/244\/2025\/05\/FY-25-26-Payroll-Schedule.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">payroll schedule<\/a> to determine your coverage effective date.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dual enrollment is not allowed!<\/strong> You cannot be enrolled both as an employee on your plan and as a spouse or dependent child on another employee\u2019s plan with the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA).<\/li>\n<li>Your next opportunity to make changes to your benefits will be during Open Enrollment unless you experience a <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/human-resources\/enrolling-in-benefits\/\">Qualified Life Event (QLE)<\/a> such as birth of a child or marriage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep your personal information updated &#8211; <\/strong>Benefit vendors are provided your home address, preferred phone and work email address. It is important for you to keep your personal contact up to date <strong>NAU is not responsible for lost or misdirected communications.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<hr role=\"separator\" class=\"hr--transparent hr--transparent-15px not-in-view\">\n<h2><strong>Primary Retirement <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Both you and NAU contribute to your primary retirement plan. You are offered the choice of Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP).<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you enroll in the ORP<\/strong> your contributions will begin the first day of the pay period following your completed enrollment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you enroll or are defaulted into ASRS<\/strong> your contributions will begin:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>New Members:<\/em> The first day of the pay period following 183 days of continuous service.<\/li>\n<li><em>Current Members:<\/em> Your date of hire, if you have an active retirement account.<\/li>\n<li><em>Forfeited Members:<\/em> Your date of hire, if you forfeited your account less than two years ago.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>How to make your primary retirement election<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>You have 30 days to make your Primary Retirement Plan election. Once you make your election or are defaulted into ASRS, you cannot change your Primary Retirement Plan unless your eligibility changes.\u00a0 <em>For example, if you are Faculty or Appointed Staff employee and move to classified staff. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Learn about your <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/human-resources\/primary-retirement\/\">Primary Retirement Plan<\/a> options. If you do not make an investment election, you will be invested in the ORP\u2019s Qualified Default Investment Alternative \u2013 The T Rowe Price Target Retirement Date Funds.<\/p>\n<hr role=\"separator\" class=\"hr--transparent hr--transparent-15px not-in-view\">\n<h2><strong>Supplemental Retirement Plans<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>NAU employees are eligible to participate NAU\u2019s Supplemental Retirement plans to save extra money for retirement.
