October 2019 HR Announcements
NAU Human Resources would like to draw your attention to some important new announcements.
Supervisors, department liaisons, and co-workers are encouraged to print and post important announcement updates in units where NAU employees may not use their email accounts or work on computers on a regular basis.
NAU’s student information system, LOUIE, will be upgraded during the weekend of October 11-14, 2019 from our current 9.0 version to the latest 9.2 version. Moving to the latest version of LOUIE provides NAU with exciting new features and extends support on day-to-day critical operations for our staff, faculty, and students.
How will LOUIE be different after the upgrade? You’ll see some minor look and feel changes (color schemes, how buttons look, etc.), but there will be no major differences. However, the upgrade does provide NAU with new tools that can enhance the user experience on “self-service” features for students, faculty and staff. In Spring 2020, we’ll start reviewing those tools to determine when and how we might give LOUIE a facelift! You can review our project website for more details on the upgrade.
During the upgrade weekend, several systems will be unavailable to users, including LOUIE (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) and our Human Resources application (PeopleSoft Human Capital Management, or HCM). The PeopleSoft Financials (FMS) system will be down briefly on Sunday afternoon, 10/13 during this upgrade, but will remain available for the majority of the LOUIE upgrade weekend. For additional information on system availability and how you may be impacted October 11-14, 2019, please see our “Go-Live Weekend” information website.

Learning and Development Opportunities
There are several employee development opportunities still available this Fall. To review, please click here and then on the “Learning and Development Class Descriptions” link from the L&D page.
The NAU Athletics department has designated Faculty/Staff days for football and volleyball coming up in November and we are offering discounted tickets to all NAU faculty, staff, vendors and families (see links below).
Mountain Line offers NAU employees rideshare option, saves commuters money and time.
What’s better than carpooling to work to save money? Putting the miles on someone else’s vehicle. Mountain Line’s Vanpool program functions like a carpool, but instead of using personal cars, vehicles are provided by Mountain Line via their partnership with Commute with Enterprise. Participants are able to use the program’s partial subsidy from the Arizona Department of Transportation, as well as Enterprise’s vehicle maintenance, insurance, and assistance with vanpool formation. For more information visit www.mountainlinevanpool.com or call Estella Hollander, Mountain Line’s Mobility Planner at 928-679-8959.
