November 2019 HR Announcements
NAU Human Resources would like to draw your attention to some important new announcements.
Supervisors, department liaisons, and co-workers are encouraged to print and post important announcement updates in units where NAU employees may not use their email accounts or work on computers on a regular basis.
November 8th is your last day to make changes to your benefits.
Open Enrollment is your opportunity each year to make changes to your benefit plan selections without a Qualified Life Event (QLE) such as the birth of a child or marriage. The one exception is Flexible Spending Accounts – to participate in a Flexible Spending Account for the 2020 you must make an election during Open Enrollment.
How do I make changes to my benefits?
When you’re ready, you will make changes to your benefits through LOUIE Self Service.
- Sign on to LOUIE Self Service at https://nau.edu/louie/.
- Select Self Service > Benefits > Benefits Enrollment.
- Click Select for the event displayed.
- Click Edit on each benefit to change your election.
- Click Submit when your enrollment is completed and then click Submit one more time to finalize your enrollment.
- You will receive an email confirming your changes have been submitted.
Important: To login to LOUIE, you will need your NAU UserID and password. This is the same UserID and password you use to access your NAU email as well as many other NAU services. If you do not know your user ID and password or have forgotten it, contact the ITS Solution Center at 928.523.1511.
Where can I learn more about Open Enrollment?
School of Music
On Saturday, November 16th, the NAU Wind Symphony will present its final concert of the semester. Titled “Out of this World,” we are collaborating with Lowell Observatory to present a concert based on the beauty and awe of our solar system. Holst’s The Planets will be introduced by specialists from Lowell and accompanied by videos and images taken at the Observatory. Dr. Emily Hoppe will also be performing Joel Puckett’s incredible flute concerto, The Shadow of Sirius, and we will close the concert with a suite from Star Wars. Following the concert, there will be experiments and activities for all ages based on The Planets and the Moon. Student tickets are free and NAU Faculty tickets are $10. However, the first 25 people that reply to firstname.lastname@example.org can receive 2 free tickets to the concert!

Employee Assistance and Wellness
The HealthyU deadline is December 14, 2019 at 6 pm!
If you are on the NAU BCBSAZ plan, record your health and wellness activities early to earn a level 1 ($115) or level 2 ($300) wellness incentive. If you have not already done so, be sure to have current biometrics on hand to complete the required wellness assessment. For complete instructions on how to earn and record points, please visit nau.edu/healthyU or call 928-523-1552. Please note: you must be on the NAU BCBSAZ health care plan at the time the incentive is paid out (February 2020) to be eligible for the wellness incentive.
Please see the options below for biometric screenings:
- Biometric screenings at Campus Health Service (CHS):
Employees may schedule an annual exam at CHS to receive their biometric measures. This appointment with a medical provider lasts approximately 30 minutes and may be fully covered by your NAU insurance plan. Your exam will provide the information necessary to complete your healthyU wellness assessment.
Please call 928-523-2131 or stop by the Campus Health Services front desk to schedule. Limited appointments are available – please schedule early!
- With your primary care provider
Schedule a preventive exam with your primary care provider to include biometrics measures (cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, height, weight).
- Biometric screening with Healthwaves:
Thursday, November 14, Health and Learning Center, room 2405 – this is the last screening of the year.
Schedule your 15-minute screening at the Healthwaves appointment scheduler or call 480-968-1886.
