Close the Position

Close position and retrieve applications

All original applications and attachments are submitted via NAU’s online application system, Careers @ NAU.  Contact Human Resources to close a position or for questions regarding accessing the applications.  Instructions for retrieving and printing applications from PeopleSoft can be found on our webpage.

Process to close the position: Accordion Closed

The process to close a position depends on the posting period of the position:

  • Defined close date.  Human Resources will automatically inform the contact person of the close of the position and alert them to access the applications.

OR

  • Open until further notice.  A department representative should notify Human Resources when it is determined that the pool is large enough to start reviewing applications.  Human Resources will close the position at least three (3) days after the notification from the department and alert the department to access the applications. This is to allow applicants sufficient notice of the newly posted closing date.

*Reminder: The department will receive an email from HR about the position being closed and with instructions on how run the application printing process, but the committee may begin reviewing applications prior to the job posting closing date.

Review diversity of the applicant pool

You will receive a summary of the diversity of the applicant pool from Human Resources when the position closes.

This information should be used to determine if the pool is representative of the diversity of the recruitment scope for this position. Compare the actual percentage in your pool to the goal percentage indicated in the Affirmative Action Plan.  If the pool is not adequately diverse, you may consider re-opening the position and advertising in alternative publications and/or websites to increase the diversity of the applicant pool.

For assistance or advice about how you can improve your diversity recruiting, contact the Equity and Access Office.
