Certain components of the rule, however, may be implemented early on July 19, 2018. These three burden-reducing provisions are:<\/p>\n<p>(1) ) The revised definition of \u201cresearch,\u201d which deems certain activities not to be research (see guidance \u2018what is human research\u2019);<\/p>\n<p>(2) ) The allowance for no annual continuing review of certain categories of research (see guidance \u2018renewal of human research\u2019); and<\/p>\n<p>(3) ) The elimination of the requirement that institutional review boards review grant applications or other funding proposals related to the research.<\/p>\n<p>Northern Arizona University (NAU) has chosen to implement the three burden-reducing provisions noted above on July 19, 2018.
