We were invited to attend the Gila Indian River Community event where President Biden was expected to formally apologize for the federal government’s long-lasting policy of Native American boarding schools, which caused untold trauma on the Native American community. Debra Krol of the Arizona Republic gives a good account of the event with helpful information about the National Native American Boarding School Healing Commission, whose reports set the apology in motion. The lab led a survey of Native American likely voters in Arizona, and the results were released on the day of the President’s apology. The lab partnered with a non-partisan PAC, Citizens for a New Arizona, to field the survey. We are honored to have been invited.
