Project Summary: <\/span><\/h4>\n

The Students Nurturing Alternatives in Landscaping (SNAIL) Community Garden and Pollinator Restoration Corridor Renovation revitalizes a 2012 initiative into an active hub for ecological education and research. Led by the NAU Research Greenhouse Complex, this fully student- and community-operated garden provides hands-on experience in sustainable landscaping, permaculture, and native plant restoration.\u00a0The project establishes a dedicated pollinator haven and increases campus ecological diversity while actively sequestering carbon and minimizing water and energy resource use.\u00a0Through extensive partnerships with the NAU Mycology Lab, the Forest and Rangeland Soil Ecology Research Group, Arizona Milkweeds for Monarchs, and Terra BIRDS, the site functions as an outdoor laboratory and collaborative community asset.\u00a0Student volunteers and interns are actively constructing gabion beds, sowing native seeds, and facilitating community events to set a regional standard for sustainable arid land gardening.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n
