Sustainability Leadership Award categories Accordion Closed<\/span><\/h4>\n <\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/a>\n \n \n\nAwards are given annually to:<\/p>\n
\n- NAU undergraduate student<\/li>\n
- NAU graduate student<\/li>\n
- GreenFund project – as nominated by the GreenFund<\/li>\n
- Sustainability Hero (examples would include: NAU leadership, facility services, staff, faculty, alumni, or local environmental integrity initiatives)<\/li>\n
- NAU on-campus project or organization<\/li>\n
- Flagstaff and\/or Northern Arizona community project or organization<\/li>\n
- Lifetime achievement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Nominees should be involved in projects or taking significant actions to positively impact the environment either on campus or in the greater Flagstaff area.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

- In your nomination, please include a short response about the roles and activities of the nominee on campus or in the community and a short description of how the nominee demonstrates(ed) leadership in sustainability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n \n \n

Hooper sustainability cash prize Accordion Closed<\/span><\/h4>\n <\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/a>\n \n \n\nThis annual award is restricted to students only and recognizes the significant sustainability contributions of undergraduate and graduate students. Nominated students must be currently enrolled and have demonstrated initiative, productivity, and dedication to NAU’s commitment to sustainability through education, collaboration, and\/or research on sustainability or the environment.<\/p>\n
Areas of special focus include:<\/p>\n
\n- NAU campus sustainability (examples: Carbon Neutrality, atmospheric warming, transportation, energy, water and landscape systems, recycling or waste, and campus food systems)<\/li>\n
- Local community-based sustainability projects<\/li>\n
- Environmentally sustainable business practices<\/li>\n
- Natural resources and ecosystem science\/management<\/li>\n
- Environmental Health in tribal and rural communities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n \n \n

By understanding the problems we face—and through taking subsequent action—we will enhance the stability, resilience, and diversity of our intertwined natural, social, economic, and cultural systems. A sustainability award nominee should recognize the objectives of our mission, undertaking significant actions that would result in positive impacts on the sustainability of our local community, with either immediate or long-term impacts.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
