NAU Sustainability Forum<\/div><\/div><\/h1>\n
Forum Meetings<\/h3>\n
The Sustainability Forum is representative of the Office of Sustainability and is the primary avenue for public input and engagement around campus sustainability initiatives. These monthly meetings are intended to be a route for open communication where students, staff, faculty, and community members can share concerns or ideas about sustainability on NAU’s campus. Oftentimes, each meeting has a specific topic to guide the conversation such as transportation, food, or waste.<\/p>\n
The Caucus is open to the community and meets monthly to:<\/p>\n

Share ideas on initiatives that promote a more sustainable future<\/li>\n
Communicate current action regarding the NAU Climate Action Plan<\/li>\n
Flagstaff sustainability efforts<\/li>\n
And more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The Forum is committed to connecting the NAU and Flagstaff communities through sharing information between NAU and the Flagstaff community to discuss sustainability strategies. Students, staff, and faculty are strongly encouraged to attend the meetings as there is important information regarding campus sustainability shared during the meetings. The Sustainability Forum is open to the community and meets monthly from 11:30 am – 12:45 pm<\/strong>\u00a0in the Grand Canyon Room, University Union<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Each year, the Sustainability Forum awards outstanding efforts of students and community members for their work on green initiatives. Action Teams Accordion Closed<\/span><\/h4>\n <\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/a>\n

Our seven Action Teams – Communications, Energy, Sustainable Landscaping, Transportation, Academics, Justice, and Waste Minimization – engage the entire community, spreading awareness and understanding about the structure and purpose of sustainability-related organizations and initiatives on campus. They:<\/p>\n
\n
Create a way to market new and existing sustainability initiatives<\/li>\n
Evaluate, support, promote, and improve sustainable transportation alternatives at NAU<\/li>\n
Investigate opportunities and engage key stakeholders across campus in an effort to decrease NAU’s climate impact<\/li>\n
Implement diverse initiatives to decrease chemical use in our campus landscapes and promote pollinator habitats<\/li>\n
develop strategies for waste minimization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

We are a grassroots, volunteer group – our informal structure allows flexibility in producing effective and creative results. Our Steering Committee guides our work, approving recommendations that are brought before the Forum at monthly meetings. The Action Teams advance the institutional commitment to sustainability and help promote education, research, and projects that positively impact the environment.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Our Steering Committee serves two-year rotating terms as our official operational body. Members come from diverse backgrounds and represent various university departments. The Steering Committee meets one week before the monthly Forum meeting to plan upcoming meetings and discuss ways to incorporate sustainable initiatives at NAU.<\/p>\n
