Grant advances career and educational pathways in geospatial technology
As the result of a $450,000 National Science Foundation grant, Northern Arizona University will partner with Mesa Community College to integrate geospatial (GST) technology and project-based learning in new and existing courses. The grant will also be used to increase awareness of and training for GST-related careers through internships, outreach and industry involvement, and provide sustained professional development in GST skills for high school, community college and university faculty.
Esri statewide education license brings GIS technology to Arizona schools
The signing of a statewide education site license with Esri brings GIS technology to all Arizona primary and secondary schools and youth organizations. Esri ArcMap, a desktop geographic information system software, may now be obtained free through a statewide site license negotiated with Esri and co-sponsored by Northern Arizona University, the Arizona Geographic Alliance and the Arizona Geographic Information Council. The license will be hosted by NAU’s Geospatial Research and Information Laboratory.
