The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azregents.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Arizona Board of Regents<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0awarded the Youngker GEAR UP Team with the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azregents.edu\/programs\/fafsa-challenges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">FAFSA Challenge Most Innovative Player<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0Award for the month of December\u2013 a recognition for schools that use fresh ideas to help students in FAFSA Completion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Youngker GEAR UP Team, consisting of coaches Denise El Habach and Christina Taylor, work with the school and students year-round in a variety of outlets to help support students in their educational journeys and postsecondary plans. Youngker High School is featured on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.azregents.edu\/fafsa\/fafsa-challenge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ABOR FAFSA Challenge<\/a>\u00a0website, where they share their best practices and tips on helping support Arizona students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Youngker High School Community has focused on building a college-going culture at Youngker, and with the support of the school and GEAR UP, FAFSA completion numbers are up compared to previous years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cIt takes a village to help establish a college-going culture. GEAR UP, YHS Counselors, Future Ready, Government teachers, our admin team, and all staff have supported students with their postsecondary plans. With the help of GEAR UP, we have been able to give more time and support to students by educating them and their families on postsecondary plans and taking the action steps necessary to accomplish those plans,\u201d GEAR UP Coach Denise El Habach said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In addition, to further support FAFSA awareness, our partners at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/educationforwardarizona.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Education Forward Arizona<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.askbenji.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ask Benji<\/a>\u00a0are providing a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3GSuxeQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$500 scholarship<\/a>\u00a0to a Youngker High School Senior looking to pursue their education beyond graduation.
