Join the NAU Forensics team!
NAU Forensics is part of the communication studies curriculum. Each semester, CST 116: Forensics Workshop is offered where students can enroll to participate on the team. Our team is open to all interested students, regardless of background or experience in forensics. The nature of this class gives you an opportunity to work with all members of the coaching staff, and all members of the coaching staff plan activities and practices intended to improve your speaking and competitive skills.
This course is a hands-on workshop that helps students practice speaking persuasively and professionally, writing with clarity and precision, adapting to various audiences, and critically analyzing literature and research texts. This course will introduce students to competitive speaking and debating. Its goal is to improve students’ skills in speaking, listening, research and writing, and reasoning through practice. Intercollegiate competitions are a primary focus of this course and students can participate in local, state, and national level forensics tournaments.
Scholarship information
The School of Communication at NAU offers scholarships to many students who participate competitively on the Speech & Debate team. The purpose of the scholarship is to facilitate the education of deserving forensics competitors. Our scholarships are financially backed through individual donations and foundational support from many of NAU’s alumni, previous competitors, family, and other gracious donors.
