{"id":4782,"date":"2020-07-30T16:35:19","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T23:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nau.edu\/first-gen\/?page_id=4782"},"modified":"2023-04-26T12:15:45","modified_gmt":"2023-04-26T19:15:45","slug":"tri-alpha-application","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/first-gen\/tri-alpha-application\/","title":{"rendered":"Tri-Alpha Eligibility &#038; Applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Join the Tri-Alpha Honor Society<\/h1>\n<h2><strong>Eligibility and application<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3>Undergraduate students<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Registered at least half-time in a degree-seeking program (bachelor\u2019s degree)<\/li>\n<li>Grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 out of 4.0<\/li>\n<li>Neither parent(s) nor guardian(s) earned a bachelor\u2019s degree prior to the student beginning their program<\/li>\n<li>Earned at least 30 credit hours toward a baccalaureate degree\n<ul>\n<li>Transfer students will need to have completed at least one semester (12 credit hours) at NAU<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Lifetime national membership dues are affordable, with $15.50 for the national office plus local chapter fees\n<ul>\n<li>Although it is expected for students to cover the $15.50 induction fee, we do not want this to be a financial barrier for applicants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please get in touch with Katherine Lawlor, Tri-Alpha Advisor at <a href=\"mailto:katherine.lawlor@nau.edu\">katherine.lawlor@nau.edu<\/a> if you need financial assistance.<\/p>\n<h3>Graduate students<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time and part-time graduate students who have earned nine credit hours or more. This allows first-semester students to apply if they will earn nine credit hours by the end of the fall semester due to the spring induction ceremony.<\/li>\n<li>Grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 out of 4.0<\/li>\n<li>Neither parent(s) nor guardian(s) earned a bachelor\u2019s degree prior to the student beginning their undergraduate program<\/li>\n<li>Lifetime national membership dues are affordable, with a $10.50 fee for the national office plus local chapter fees\n<ul>\n<li>Although it is expected for students to cover the $10.50 induction fee, we do not want this to be a financial barrier for applicants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please get in touch with Katherine Lawlor, Tri-Alpha Advisor at <a href=\"mailto:katherine.lawlor@nau.edu\">katherine.lawlor@nau.edu<\/a> if you need financial assistance.<\/p>\n<h3>Faculty, staff, and honorary inductees<\/h3>\n<p>Faculty, staff, alumni, and honorary members may be inducted by the local chapter if they completed a baccalaureate degree, were first-generation college students at the time they graduated, and continue to have a connection to Northern Arizona University. Lifetime national membership fees are currently $26.00 for faculty, staff, alumni, and honorary inductees.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Want to donate to the Tri-Alpha Honor Society fund?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foundationnau.org\/s\/1898\/custom19\/home.aspx?sid=1898&amp;gid=2\">NAU Foundation page<\/a> and search for the Tri-Alpha Honor Society.
