\u00a0Professor Allen Reich – School of Hotel and Restaurant Management<\/strong><\/p>\n

Allen Z. Reich, Ph.D., Professor, Isbell Ethics Professor, President\u2019s Distinguished Teaching Fellow. Allen\u2019s study of ethics began over four decades ago while working as the manager of the top steakhouse in Texas when he recognized and began dealing with the fact that employees did not receive the level of respect or support they needed and deserved. His doctoral dissertation at Virginia Tech focused on corporate social responsibility and ethics, as has much of his academic research. One of his four books, a human resource management textbook, focuses on corporate values and ethics as the foundational principles for everything that occurs in the firm. Allen was listed as the 7th<\/sup> most prolific contributor to the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Education based on his research focused on improvements in educational strategies. He was included in two lists of Most Influential Authors by Citations in the Journal Hospitality & Tourism Research. His current research includes a recent article focused on the ethical application of respect for employees, a manuscript submitted on the differential impact of monological versus dialogical corporate social responsibility communication strategies, and a work-in-process on the minimization of bias in the assessment of qualitative performance criteria through strong positive corporate values and ethics. Allen received a Service Leadership Award from the NAU President for his service to the university, the NAU President\u2019s Award for exemplary overall contributions to the university, was a 7-year member of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, Faculty President for two years, Chair of the Arizona Faculties Council (the representative body of Arizona\u2019s public universities), and held the faculty seat on the Arizona Board of Regents. Allen serves as an expert witness for legal cases, most notably serving as the lead restaurant expert for the 1.6 billion dollar Boston Market lawsuit.<\/p>\n\n
