Stewardship of place has been a focus of Northern Arizona University for many years. We are located amidst the largest Ponderosa Pine forest in the world, in a city that is a dedicated Dark Sky Community. Approximately fifteen percent of the land within Arizona’s borders are national parks and our majestic landscapes include the amazing Saguaro cacti, the cliffs of Canyon de Chelly National Monument, and the mile-deep Grand Canyon.\u00a0 We know and understand the importance of our physical world.<\/p>\n
Our renowned School of Forestry, School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Sustainability, Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science, and Department of Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Environmental Engineering work to ensure that students are considering the environmental impact of their future careers. In addition, our Department of Applied Indigenous Studies, Department of Politics and International Affairs, and the Environmental Economists in The W. A. Franke College of Business are engaged in how human decision, policies, and practices impact the natural world.<\/p>\n
