Associate Professor of Practice and Associate Director for Academic and Student Affairs Janice Sweeter – School of Communication

Dr. Sweeter’s research explores the ethical implications of community collaboration to solve complex public issues in her identification and explication of the CALL to Action model of community engagement. She also co-authored with Dr. Jiun-yi Tsai and Dr. Elizabeth Candello a study of communication between government entities and their constituents, forthcoming in Journal of Communication Management. She incorporates involvement with industry clients in her advertising, social media and public relations courses to offer students real-world experience in developing strategic communication campaigns to solve key business objectives along with defining an ethical foundation for these recommendations. Dr. Sweeter also brings extensive experience in managing ethical responsibilities as a leader of marketing and communication from the client and agency perspectives for a variety of industries, including entertainment, health care, financial services, pharmaceuticals and nonprofit arts.
