For NAU student <strong>Viansa Reid<\/strong>, studying abroad in Spain became an opportunity to strengthen her language skills, gain hands-on research experience, and immerse herself in a new culture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">As part of NAU&#8217;s Interdisciplinary Global Programs (IGP), Reid spent an academic year at the University of Alicante, where she completed advanced Spanish coursework, studied environmental science, and worked in a bioplastics research lab investigating biodegradable plastics and microplastics in soil. The experience allowed her to apply what she learned in the classroom while contributing to meaningful environmental research.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Beyond academics, Reid embraced Spanish culture by participating in local festivals, navigating daily life in a new language, and building friendships with students from around the world.
