Research and Service projects at the ELDC

1. The individual submits their proposal using the application link below.  Individuals are welcome to reach out the ELDC Director in advance to gage interest in the project.
2. The ELDC Director reviews the proposal, discusses it with the pedagogical and research liaison and decides if the proposal will move to the ELDC research committee.  The director can approve, deny, or request more information.  Any denials will also be reviewed with the dean of the college prior to communicating with the researcher(s).  Notification regarding the status of the proposal will be provided to the researcher.
3. Any project summaries or publications will be provided to the ELDC upon completion.

1. The researcher(s) submits their proposal using the application link below.  Researchers are welcome to reach out to the ELDC Director in advance to gage interest in the proposal. 
2. The ELDC Director reviews the proposal, discusses it with the pedagogical and research liaison and decides if the proposal will move to the ELDC research committee.  The director can approve, deny, or request more information.  Any denials will also be reviewed with the dean of the college prior to communicating with the researcher(s).  Notification will be provided to the researcher. 
3. The ELDC research committee will review the proposal.  The committee will meet and use a rubric to score the proposal (link to rubric).  Desired proposals include research that aligns with the vision and mission of the ELDC, as well as research that benefits our children, families, or teachers. 
4. If the proposal is accepted by the ELDC research committee, the ELDC Director will bring the proposal to the ELDC family advisory group.  The group will review the proposal and provide final approval. 
5. Once all reviews have been completed, the ELDC Director will notify the researcher regarding the status of the proposal.  The ELDC Director will send a letter of support to use for any IRB approval. 
6. The researcher will be required to provide information to the families about the proposal as outlined in their IRB.  Any publications of the research will be shared with the ELDC.

   • VIII. Since the majority of the ELDC staff is involved to some degree in research conduced at the school, it is necessary to have information about the proposed project. Please supply the specifics requested in the next section. This will enable the ELDC staff to more effectively assist you in implementing this research.

Week 1: Application received and reviewed by the Director and PL, sends email notification of next steps; proposals can be denied or postponed for review if there are already accepted proposals within the research timeline.

Week 2: Committee receives proposal and scores on rubric.

Week 3: Committee meeting is scheduled with committee to discuss results.

Week 4: If committee approves, the ELDC Director will notify the Family Engagement Space (FES) by email about the proposal and ask for any feedback.  Information given to the FES will be high-level, and will include a 3-question survey that asks for appropriateness of the research, any family considerations one would request of the researcher, questions that they have about the research that were not addressed.

Week 5: Director notifies researcher of final approval.

*Preference will be given to NAU research proposals over external proposals.
