The technology is made available to students at the beginning of each semester on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students are required to complete and sign a Technology Loan Form, and agree to return the device to Disability Resources at the end of the semester.<\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>Students must meet the following criteria to borrow a device from Disability Resources:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The student must be eligible for an accommodation that is consistent with the type of device borrowed. For example, a student requesting a loan of a digital recorder would need to be eligible for the accommodation of an audio recorder.<\/li>\n<li>The student must be registered with Disability Resources for the semester in which they are requesting the device loan.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Student responsibility<\/h2>\n<p>When students borrow technology from Disability Resources, they are required to complete and sign a Technology Loan Form that indicates they agree to the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The student is responsible for returning the equipment to Disability Resources on or before the return due date.<\/li>\n<li>The technology will be returned in the same condition and working order as when it was received.<\/li>\n<li>Disability Resources will be notified immediately if the technology is not working for any reason.<\/li>\n<li>The technology will be returned before the end of the loan agreement if it is not being utilized on a regular basis.<\/li>\n<li>A charge for the replacement cost of the technology will be placed on the students account the week before the end of the loan period; and the charge will be removed once the technology is returned to Disability Resources.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Technology available<\/h2>\n<p>The following types of technology are available to borrow on a first-come, first-serve basis:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#digital\">Digital Recorder<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#xtag\">XTag Wireless Microphone<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#fm\">FM Listening System<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#loop\">Portable Loop System<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#cctv\">Portable CCTV<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"digital\"><\/a>Digital recorder<\/h3>\n<p>Disability Resources has a variety of Sony digital recorders available for students to borrow. These recorders have the capability of creating separate folders for each class and transferring the audio file to a computer. The older models require batteries for charging, while the newer models are charged using a USB cable.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-276 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/Digital-recorder-image-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of a Sony digital recorder\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/Digital-recorder-image-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/Digital-recorder-image-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/Digital-recorder-image.jpg 522w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"xtag\"><\/a>XTag wireless microphone<\/h3>\n<p>The XTag wireless microphone from Revo Labs is an omnidirectional microphone that is used primary for students who have an accommodation of Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART). The digital base receiver unit connects to any Windows or Apple computer through a USB interface. It does not require any device drivers or software and installs immediately. The microphone provides the remote captioner with clearer audio of the class lecture.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-landscape-image-sm wp-image-291\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/revolab-232x174.jpg\" alt=\"Picture of XTag microphone in it's charging station\" width=\"232\" height=\"174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/revolab-232x174.jpg 232w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/revolab-464x348.jpg 464w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"fm\"><\/a>FM listening system<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-288 size-landscape-image-sm\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/motiva-232x174.png\" alt=\"image of williams sound motiva system\" width=\"232\" height=\"174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/motiva-232x174.png 232w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/motiva-464x348.png 464w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Personal FM Listening Systems are wireless assistive listening devices that consist of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A transmitter, which enables sound to be picked up from a speaker using a lavalier microphone, or any other sound source.<\/li>\n<li>A receiver, which allows the end user to receive better clarity of speech and sound by reducing background noise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>FM systems can enhance the use of hearing aids or cochlear implants, but are typically used by individuals who are hard of hearing and do not wear hearing aids.<\/p>\n<p>Disability Resources has two different types of FM Listening Systems available to borrow:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Comfort Contego<\/li>\n<li>Williams Sound Motiva<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-short-banner-image-sm wp-image-290\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/Contego800_web-200x116.jpg\" alt=\"image of comfort contego transmitter and receiver\" width=\"200\" height=\"116\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"loop\"><\/a>Portable loop system<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-295 size-landscape-image-sm\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/induction-loop-232x174.jpeg\" alt=\"Picture of portable induction loop system with microphone\" width=\"232\" height=\"174\" \/><\/h3>\n<p>The portable induction loop systems are beneficial for individuals who wear a hearing aid with a T-coil. The system contains an integral microphone that picks up the sound of speech within the room, and transmits the audio directly to the individuals hearing aid through the T-coil. The system requires no set-up other than being fully charged and turned on when ready to use.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"cctv\"><\/a>Portable CCTV<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-289 size-landscape-image-sm\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/Transformer-HD-Brochure-232x174.jpg\" alt=\"Picture of the Transformer being used with a laptop\" width=\"232\" height=\"174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/Transformer-HD-Brochure-232x174.jpg 232w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2018\/04\/Transformer-HD-Brochure-464x348.jpg 464w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is a portable device that will magnify print material, as well as content written on a whiteboard or blackboard in a classroom. A student who has an accommodation for either a CCTV or large print would be eligible to borrow this technology. The device available for loan is the Transformer HD. This is a high performance portable video magnifier, that features a Sony full HD 1080p 3-in-1 camera.
