{"id":2138,"date":"2022-01-18T08:40:34","date_gmt":"2022-01-18T15:40:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nau.edu\/psychological-sciences\/?p=2138"},"modified":"2022-01-18T08:40:34","modified_gmt":"2022-01-18T15:40:34","slug":"department-welcomes-dr-eric-cerino-to-the-mountain-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/department-psychological-sciences\/department-welcomes-dr-eric-cerino-to-the-mountain-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"Department Welcomes Dr. Eric Cerino to the Mountain Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Psychological Sciences welcomed <a href=\"https:\/\/directory.nau.edu\/departments?id=10840&amp;person=esc235&amp;src=psychological-sciences\">Eric Cerino, Ph.D.<\/a>, to the Mountain Campus during the first faculty meeting of the semester.\u00a0 Dr. Cerino joined the faculty in August 2021, and taught Adult Development and Aging (PSY 344) and Abnormal Psychology (PSY 215) online during the fall semester.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/department-psychological-sciences\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/353\/Eric_Cerino_Photo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-uncropped-small wp-image-2137\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/department-psychological-sciences\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/353\/Eric_Cerino_Photo-300x273.png\" alt=\"Photo of Eric Cerino\" width=\"300\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/353\/Eric_Cerino_Photo-300x273.png 300w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/353\/Eric_Cerino_Photo-600x545.png 600w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/353\/Eric_Cerino_Photo.png 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>In addition to teaching several sections of Adult Development and Aging during the spring semester, Dr. Cerino will be creating the NAU Healthy Aging Lab, which will provide opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students to participate in research to identify ways to maximize health and well-being for all individuals across the adult lifespan.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Cerino is a lifespan developmental psychologist and recently completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Healthy Aging at Pennsylvania State University. \u00a0He holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from Oregon State University, with a concentration in Adult Development and Aging and minor in Aging Sciences.\u00a0 He has expertise in working with experience sampling studies among diverse groups of community-dwelling and clinical adult lifespan samples (e.g., individuals with mild cognitive impairment and those who are cognitively unimpaired). Dr. Cerino\u2019s long-term research goal is to use intensive repeated measurement techniques to advance dementia screening efforts and inform development of tailored interventions for optimizing cognitive health in older adults.<\/p>\n<p>Says Dr. Cerino, \u201cI am thrilled to be joining a department with passionate students and wonderful colleagues committed to applying the psychological sciences for the advancement of health and wellbeing.
