Northern Arizona University promotes\u00a0undergraduate research\u00a0across campus in a variety of ways. It is a member of the\u00a0Council on Undergraduate Research<\/a>\u00a0(CUR) and through programs such as its\u00a0Hooper Undergraduate Research Award<\/a>\u00a0(HURA), provides funding opportunities for undergraduates to carry out research.<\/p>\n Get more\u00a0information on undergraduate research opportunities<\/a> in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.<\/p>\n In recent years, undergraduate research has become a feature of the department\u2019s BS degree program. Jeff Rushall has been most responsible for student interest in research, and his Friday Afternoon Mathematics Undergraduate Seminar (FAMUS) provides a forum for recruitment. Many departmental majors have undertaken research projects, and twelve of the department\u2019s current faculty have been involved in project supervision.<\/p>\n Undergraduate research has been supported by NAU I2S and HURA awards and by funding from NASA Space Grants and the Center for Undergraduate Research in Mathematics. Funding to support student travel to national and regional meetings has also come from the Department of Mathematics & Statistics.
