<\/a>I teach courses in ancient Greek, Roman, Mediterranean, and world history, including topics courses on ethnicity and race, sexuality, and democracy. My degrees include a B.A. in Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations (Rice University, 2003, where I also competed in Cross-Country and Track & Field) and a Ph.D. in Ancient History (University of Pennsylvania, 2010, where I briefly participated in a campus Shakespeare company). I have also studied abroad and conducted research in Greece (American School of Classical Studies in Athens), Turkey (American Research Institute), and Germany (Institute for Epigraphy and Ancient History).<\/p>\n\nWhat have you been up to lately? Accordion Closed<\/span><\/h4>\n <\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/a>\n \n \n\nMy current research project explores the history of indigenous peoples in the Hellenistic world (323-30 BC), with a particular focus on the region of Anatolia\/Asia Minor (modern Turkey). I seek to understand how these communities were able to maintain traditional practices and identities while interacting with and appropriating hegemonic Greek culture and power structures. Recent publications include The Peoples of Anatolia<\/em><\/a> (Brill, 2022), “Beyond Greeks: Toward More Inclusive Histories of the Ancient Mediterranean”<\/a> AHB 37 (2023), and “Prolegomena to any Future Indigenous History of the Ancient World<\/a>” AHR 128.3 (2023).<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n \n \n What are you working on next?
