If tuition is already paid, and a student has no outstanding charges in LOUIE, s\/he\/they may take this money in the form of a refund. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Students must be full time and attending both semesters (current seniors should NOT apply unless they are an undergraduate planning on attending NAU for a degree in Spanish MAT).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Other Regulations: All applicants must have been accepted to NAU and attend full time during the entire academic year. University of Mary Washington&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">It is important to know the following:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Since Spain is quite expensive, normally there are costs that the student has to pay on top of the amount of the scholarship.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">There are limitations on how the scholarship money can be used. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The scholarship can be used to pay for registration, accommodation and excursions related to the program in which you enroll.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Application process:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Each applicant writes a 250-word essay in Spanish and a 250-word essay in English describing how this experience abroad will help them become a better Spanish teacher. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">(One can be a translation of the other.) Students must be seeking one of the following <u>majors<\/u>: Modern Languages BA, with an Emphasis in Japanese, German, or French; Spanish BA, Spanish BSEd, or Spanish MAT. Students seeking one of the following <u>minors<\/u>, Japanese, Spanish, German, Italian, Chinese, or French WITH at least one major from the College of Arts &amp; Letters are also eligible. Please be aware that this scholarship excludes students seeking dual\/double major degrees outside of the College of Arts &amp; Letters, thus, <strong><em>excludes IGP<\/em><\/strong> seeking students at this time. Dr. Laski fled Berlin as one of the very first women in the early 1900&rsquo;s to receive a jurisprudence degree in Germany. She was also affiliated with the Sorbonne before immigrating to the United States via Haiti. Vera Laski was a published writer of plays, poetry, and fiction as well as one of the first anthropology scholars to focus on the Southwest. Vera Laski&rsquo;s collection of Southwestern artifacts is housed in the former Museum f&uuml;r V&ouml;lkerkunde (now Ethnologisches Museum) in Dahlem\/Berlin.
