In 2000, the Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies (RWDMS)<\/a> area created a memorial scholarship for one of our former graduate students, Alex Weirich.<\/p>\n Alex was a superb argumentative writer and thinker who promised to contribute a great deal to the scholarship of rhetoric and composition studies.<\/p>\n Alex\u2019s research focused on the history of rhetoric, technology studies, and gender identity. Alex received a Syracuse University fellowship to the composition and cultural rhetoric doctoral program. He was attending this program when he died.<\/p>\n The Alex Weirich Memorial Scholarship is awarded to graduate students in the Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies (RWDMS)<\/a> English MA program. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding ability and interest in one or more of Alex\u2019s areas of expertise: history of rhetoric, technology, and\/or gender identity.<\/p>\n In order to qualify as a recipient, you must be enrolled in the Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies (RWDMS)<\/a> area of the graduate English program.
